Village staff presented an amendment to the residential waste, yard waste and recycling agreement with Allied Waste/Republic Services. The amendment extends the contract term and implements a compounded 4% annual increase over the current contracted rate. Staff said there are no other material changes beyond the rate and term adjustments and recommended the ordinance for approval.
"The amendment implements an annual increase of 4% compounded each year based on the current contracted rate," the presenter said, and added that the contract term would be extended through 2031. A Republic representative was in the audience to take questions. The board approved the ordinance by roll call (6–0).
Implications: the amendment will increase residential collection costs incrementally through the extended term and commits future budget capacity; staff did not provide an estimated total cost projection for the village over the extension during the meeting.
