Trustees hear construction progress, approve baseball field change order

The Liberty ISD Board of Trustees received a construction update July 21, hearing that major veneer repairs are complete and that work on campus fire-escape stairs and the district baseball field is ongoing. Grady Slaydon and Caine, a project manager with SETEX, told trustees stair sets B and D are mostly complete, stair sets B and C remain priorities before school starts, and temporary handrails will be used until permanent ones are installed.

Caine said the contractor reported that "the project remains on schedule," and described planned masonry punch-list work and foundation work for Stair A that is expected to be scheduled around weekends or school breaks to reduce disruption. On the baseball field, trustees were told the final concrete pour for a new agricultural road entrance was complete, dugout foundations are in place, site grading and grandstand preparation are ongoing, field-lighting infrastructure is being installed, and utilities are being relocated.

Following the presentation, the Board approved a change order for the baseball field construction. Bruce George moved to approve the change order; Julie Hebert seconded the motion, which passed 5–0 with D‑Ann Berry and Malcom Goudeau absent. The minutes do not specify the dollar amount or scope language of the change order.

District staff and the contractor said the work sequencing is intended to minimize disruption to campus operations; no timetable for final completion beyond the statement that work is expected to be finished before school was provided in the minutes.
