Trustees approve Competitive Sealed Proposal method for cafeteria project, introduce on-site managers

Trustee Tori Koudela moved and Trustee Chad Hajovsky seconded a motion to use the Competitive Sealed Proposal (CSP) delivery method for the district's cafeteria project and to delegate authority to advertise, solicit and evaluate proposals; the motion carried 6-0.
Mr. Wright introduced the Cummings group (Sloan, Seth) as "our on-site Project Managers for the cafeteria project," saying the district will evaluate proposers on qualifications, experience, safety, reputation and price to determine best value. The board's action authorizes staff to solicit proposals and return a recommendation for award to the Board of Trustees.
The vote was unanimous. The CSP process the trustees approved allows evaluators to weight non-price factors when choosing among competing proposals, a step the superintendent said is intended to prioritize contractor experience and safety record over lowest bid.
