Midway ISD board extends superintendent contract, approves 2% raise

The Midway Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously April 21 to extend the superintendent’s employment contract by one year and approved a 2% salary increase.
President Susan Vick announced the motion to extend the contract and increase salary; the Board approved the motion without recorded opposition. Earlier in the evening, the Board entered closed session under Texas Government Code Section 551.074 to finalize the superintendent’s performance goals and to discuss the contract. President Vick reconvened the public meeting at 9:56 p.m. and stated no action had been taken in closed session.
The board approved the superintendent’s 2026 performance goals following the closed session. Jonathan Green moved to accept the goals and Pam Watts seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The contract extension and pay increase take effect as presented at the April 21 meeting.
The action follows administration communications earlier in the meeting about the district’s engagement with state lawmakers on school finance, in which Superintendent Dr. Allen described a $5,000–$8,000 pay gap created by the state’s Teacher Retention Allotment (TRA) that favors smaller districts.
