Board approves multiple student travel requests for competitions and performances

The Pasadena ISD Board on April 28 approved several student travel requests spanning competitions and performance events. The board OK’d Dobie High School theater students traveling to Bloomington, Indiana, for the International Thespian Competition on June 20–27, 2026, at an approximate cost of $12,500. Sam Rayburn High School JROTC was approved to attend the National JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl in Washington, D.C., June 12–16, 2026.
Trustees also approved Sam Rayburn High School choir, dance, orchestra and theatre students to travel to Orlando, Florida, April 21–24, 2027, at approximately $2,260 per student for travel and performance at Universal Studios. Separately, J. Frank Dobie High School Speech and Debate qualifiers were approved to attend NIETOC in Shakopee, MN (May 7–11, 2026) and the NCFL national tournament in Washington, D.C. (May 22–25, 2026) for total costs not to exceed $15,480.70. All travel motions passed unanimously 7–0.
