Cayuga County IT outlines cybersecurity plan, AI training and infrastructure projects

Tom Bunn, speaking for the county Information Technology department, reported April helpdesk activity and a suite of ongoing projects including cybersecurity planning, AI training, shared services with the City of Auburn and an ERP assessment. "441 new support tickets were created" in April and "81% of support tickets were resolved," Bunn said, and he described a draft Cybersecurity Incident Response Plan to define roles and procedures for responding to incidents.
Bunn told the committee the county’s AI training program—adopted by the Legislature in December—will focus on approved tools, prohibited uses and staff accountability; he reported 78% of county staff had completed training as of May 1. He also outlined infrastructure work: final IT/electrical drawings for the proposed DMV move were completed, multiple fiber installations and network upgrades are in place across county sites, and Tyler Technologies is scheduled to conduct an onsite ERP assessment to inform a centralized solution for payroll, finance and HR.
