Katie, a summer intern for the Village of Bartlett, demonstrated the village’s new OpenGov transparency portal at the Committee of the Whole meeting on Aug. 5, 2026. The portal will post department “stories” with interactive charts covering building permits, code enforcement and contractor licensing, and will be available from the village website.
"The village of Bartlett has partnered with OpenGov, our permitting and licensing report software to create a transparency portal where data and information will be available to the public," Katie said, explaining users can click through pre-created views, filter results and export charts. Trustee Hopkins, the board’s building and zoning chairman, introduced the presentation and praised the intern’s work in assembling the reports.
Trustees asked whether the portal would be forward‑facing and whether it would reduce FOIA requests. Presenters said the portal is public-facing and they expect it to streamline information requests by directing callers to ready-made reports. The portal's first public release is planned later in August and staff intends monthly updates.
