Trappe amends trash-placement rules, reopens public hearing through Nov. 5
The Trappe Town Council amended Ordinance 6-2025 to set trash set-out no earlier than 2:00 p.m. the day before collection and require containers be removed by 8:00 p.m. on collection day; the council reopened the public hearing and will accept comments through Nov. 5.

The Trappe Town Council voted Oct. 1 to amend Ordinance 6-2025, changing when residents may place refuse at the curb. Commissioner Brian Schmidt moved to require that “trash be placed no earlier than 2:00 p.m. on the day prior to collection and trash containers must be removed from the street no later than 8:00 p.m. on collection day,” a motion the council approved unanimously.
