Bay Area Rural Transit reports rising ridership, looks toward electric buses

Pat Doust, director of Bay Area Rural Transit, briefed the Bayfield County Board on June 30 that BART has grown from a two-county system in 1981 to operating across four counties with partnerships including tribal transit systems. Doust said the service "has already hit 50% of its projected ridership for the year and their revenue is 80% of what was projected for 2026," and noted BART offers free rides for veterans and uses an electric van when possible.
