A courthouse security update noted a defendant recently passed out in court and that an automated external defibrillator (AED) has been placed in the courtroom; a judge verified the medical incident. Commissioners debated whether to run a tabletop exercise first and later move to a full building exercise to test lockdown procedures and staff responsibilities. "If something does happen, how departments kinda have to have some idea of what to do and where to go and how to handle that," a commissioner said, describing the rationale for staged training.
The security committee also discussed technical options such as a lockdown cutoff switch for the courthouse store and will return cost estimates at a future meeting. The board approved a small recognition funding item ($500) for an EMS recognition event and discussed broader safety and interagency coordination.
