County Soil & Water educator highlights curriculum-linked conservation programs

Laura Munson, county education coordinator for the Pottawatomie County Soil and Water Conservation District, described a suite of free, curriculum-aligned in-class programs she brings to Traner/Trainer Elementary, saying she has presented 84 programs there this school year.
Munson told the board the 5th-grade Mulch Madness program and a Trees for Threes field day give students hands-on conservation experiences; she noted local volunteers and donations helped plant and paint trees on school grounds. "I work for the Pottawatomie County Soil and Water Conservation District," Munson said, and she emphasized the lessons connect classroom learning with local ecosystems.
