Lighthouse Point sets FY 2025–26 budget workshop and public hearing dates

City administration recommended dates and times for the fiscal year 2025–26 budget process and the commission approved the schedule by unanimous vote.

Staff recommended a budget workshop prior to the regular meeting on June 24 at 4:00 p.m., distribution of the proposed budget no later than June 17, a first budget hearing on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 10:00 a.m. (as a rescheduled regular meeting), and a second hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m. The administration also recommended holding assessment hearings on Sept. 13 at 10:00 a.m. as part of the same rescheduled meeting.

"City administration recommends the budget workshop be held prior to the regular city commission meeting on June 24 at 4PM. The proposed budget will be distributed no later than June 17," a city administrator said while presenting the recommended schedule. Commissioners discussed concerns about a Saturday hearing and about meeting conflicts with recreation programs; several commissioners said they were flexible and agreed to the dates after clarifying deadlines tied to the property appraiser's timelines.

A motion to set the workshop and hearing dates passed 5–0. Staff said they would bring additional materials and finalize the budget distribution schedule ahead of June 17.
