During the public hearing on the sign application for 7515 Cermak Road, commissioners and staff discussed the municipal sign-code rewrite that preceded many current variance requests. Staff said the 2021 rewrite changed how nonconforming signage is treated and that the change prompted property owners and tenants to seek variances to regularize existing sign locations and sizes.
