County authorizes EMS inventory automation and issues RFPs for billing software and services

The committee approved a contract for an automated EMS inventory control system and voted to issue two RFPs — one for EMS billing software and another for billing services — after officials said current billing contracts are costly and manual inventory tracking risks medication expiration.

EMS Director Jim Lee told the committee that inventory is currently tracked manually and presented a proposal to contract with Station Automation Inc. for an inventory control system; the resolution was approved 4‑0. Lee and Purchasing Agent Chris O'Connor said an automated system would improve medication expiry tracking, reduce risk, and could integrate with the Nursing Home system pending further exploration by Heather Loucks.
