UDOT-driven Zion Canyon fiber project presented; completion expected December 2026

Representatives from the Zion Canyon Fiber Optics Project (Nancy Cozzens and Ava Pecora) provided the Council with a high-level project overview. Cozzens said the project—driven by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT)—would design and construct fiber infrastructure beginning just west of Hurricane and continuing along State Route 9 and the Zion–Mount Carmel Highway through Zion National Park's East Entrance. Construction was anticipated to be complete in December 2026, and the presenters requested Springdale traffic data and public input on construction timing.
