County planning staff presented and the commission approved a zoning amendment defining when traffic assessments (5+ acres or certain rezones) and traffic studies (50,000+ sq ft or 150+ daily trips) are required; developer-paid engineering reviews will be sent to the highway department for recommendations.

The Robertson County Commission approved a planning and zoning amendment (Resolution 102025083) that establishes thresholds and procedures for developer-funded traffic assessments and more intensive traffic studies. Planning staff explained the amendment distinguishes "traffic assessments" for smaller rezones (roughly 5 acres or commercial/industrial parcels the director flags) from full "traffic studies" required for larger developments (projects exceeding 50,000 square feet of floor area or expected to generate 150 or more new daily trips). "The traffic assessments and the traffic studies will be sent to an engineer that the developer pays for," planning staff said, and that engineer's recommendation will be provided to the planning commission and the highway department for final access decisions.
