The City of Toccoa Commission voted to approve the bid to expand the Ritz theater after a divided vote on Nov. 24, 2025. Commissioner Gail Fry moved to approve the bid, and Commissioner Ron Matheson seconded; the motion passed 3–2 with Mayor Terry Carter, Commissioner Fry and Commissioner Matheson voting yes and Vice Mayor Evan Hellenga and Commissioner Michelle Jamieson voting no.
