Commissioner Brandon Hytinen reported personnel changes in the highway department: two two-week notices (an operator and the parts coordinator due to retirement), two offers made for operator positions and one accepted offer for a mechanic who filled a parts-coordinator vacancy. The meeting record also notes a terminated employee appealed an unemployment denial and the appeal was denied by the judge.
Kurt Berner provided an update on properties being explored for a potential new highway shop; Excel will model site layouts and total acquisition and infrastructure costs. County Administrator Richard Heath provided a handout outlining new facility considerations and discussion included possible financing sources.
