Mesquite ISD trustees approved several construction items on Dec. 1, including a contractor recommendation and early guaranteed maximum price (GMP) packages for elementary campus upgrades. Administration recommended Buford Thompson Company as the general contractor for the Motley Lawrence replacement elementary; the board voted to approve the recommendation.
Project presenters described the Motley Lawrence site as designed for about 700 students and said board approval of the GMP total is planned for February 2027. The board also approved administration'recommended early GMP 1 packages: $174,309 for switchgear at Beasley Elementary, $763,159 for chiller and switchgear at Grama Elementary, and $202,679 for switchgear at Moss Elementary. A presenter noted several prices came in lower than original estimates.
Trustees moved and approved each GMP by voice vote after brief presentations; administration said full GMP totals will return to the board in February as part of the next procurement steps.
