Lynden council authorizes $140,000 state grant contract to digitize permitting
The council authorized the mayor’s signature on a Department of Commerce Paper to Digital Grant contract that will reimburse expenses for the SmartGov permitting system. The award of $140,000 covers most software, update, hardware and data migration costs; motion passed 5-0.

The Lynden City Council on Dec. 11, 2024 authorized the mayor to sign a contract with the Washington State Department of Commerce for the Paper to Digital Grant, enabling the city to seek reimbursement for SmartGov permitting-system expenses. Councilor Gary Vis moved the authorization and Councilor Kyle Strengholt seconded; the motion was recorded as approved 5-0.
