Board authorizes participation in Transportation Alternatives pre-application for sidewalks

Chair (S1) briefed the board on the Transportation Alternatives Grant program and asked for authorization to submit a pre-application/letter of intent by January 15 so the town can apply by the March 15 deadline. Chair (S1) said these funds are large federal pass-through dollars and encouraged intermunicipal cooperation.
"It's $97,400,000 federal pass through money, to the states," Chair (S1) said, noting staff identified Fair Street (estimated $1.5–2.0 million) and Route 9D (estimated about $3.0 million) as possible projects to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety to the Hudson Highlands State Park. The board authorized staff to work with the town on the January 15 pre-application and to request letters of support from neighboring municipalities as needed.
