City grant staff and planning described seven grant opportunities the city plans to pursue, ranging from a $1.2M Climate Smart Communities/Adaptation project (with a 20% match) to NYSERDA energy-efficiency dollars, Empire State Development feasibility studies and a potential $1M–$10M EFC green resiliency request for waterfront and floodproofing work.
Staff said some grant applications will be prepared by partner consultants (SEAP and chosen vendors) under existing contracts and noted overlapping scopes to maximize competitiveness rather than duplicate effort. Councilors urged speed on floodproofing and thanked the sustainability coordinator for surfacing opportunities. Staff asked the council to authorize resolutions at the July 14 meeting to proceed with applications and letters of support where appropriate.
