EDC recommends exploring a GIS platform to map public works and infrastructure
The committee recommended including a proposal to develop or centralize a GIS mapping platform so staff, elected officials and residents can view infrastructure investments, utilities and capital projects; staff said many data layers exist but centralization would require work.

Committee presenter Dave Dixon recommended that the city consider consolidating public-works and infrastructure data into a GIS (geographic information system) platform so residents, developers and officials can view investments and project status. He said GIS can show sidewalks, water lines, permits and other layers so the public can see where investment is occurring.
