Comal County commissioners on Aug. 6 approved an interlocal agreement with Comal Independent School District for the provision of law-enforcement services through the end of 2026 and authorized the county judge to sign the agreement.
A county law-enforcement representative explained the agreement incorporates existing school-resource officers (SROs) into the community resource team and includes dates and rates for the remainder of 2026; staff said the court will return later in the year to amend the agreement for the following year's rates if necessary. "Basically, the only thing other than the number of officers that's included in there, we did put some of the summer programs in there, but it's the dates and the rate," the speaker said.
The court approved the interlocal agreement by voice vote and thanked staff for their work on the document. The judge signed the authorization for the agreement at the meeting.
