Clerk warns service risk as board advances reclassification request

A representative for the County Clerk’s Office told the committee that staffing has fallen from six full-time employees when they started to four currently and described operational strain, including a backlog of records that need scanning. "We went we've gone from an office of 6 full time people when I started... to currently, we have 4," Clerk said, and asked the board to reclassify an archives clerk to an account clerk to enable more flexible coverage and scanning support.
The clerk explained the archives work includes scanning sheriff’s documents and indexing roughly 300 boxes identified at two substations. The clerk said a grant application could fund a temporary scanner position if approved. Supervisors voted to move the reclassification and full-time backfill request to the full board for final action.
