Principals say interim benchmark data will guide STAAR interventions

At the Jan. 20 meeting, secondary principal Wayne Borden and assistant superintendent Dr. Nikki Saxton presented Fall Interim benchmark results for reading (GPM 1.3) and math (GPM 2.3) covering the 3rd six weeks.
Both administrators said the Fall Interim results will enable principals and teachers to identify students who need intervention before the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) tests. The meeting minutes note that the monitoring calendar item was informational and intended to support timely interventions.
During the Four Fundamentals report the board also heard updates on student attendance, student discipline, teacher attendance, and principal walkthroughs. Two students, De’Waylon Brown and Adrian Harrison, were recognized for their leadership and mentoring of underclassmen.
