The council deferred a public hearing on an ordinance that would repeal and recreate subsection 8.511 of the Monroe city code after staff said the publication requirements to hold the hearing under the current schedule were not met.
Administrator Rindy explained that because of condensed scheduling the city could not meet publication deadlines, so the process must start over and the item will return to the Judiciary & Ordinance and Public Works committees for reconsideration and recommendation to the new council in May. No substantive debate occurred because the hearing could not proceed for procedural reasons.
