Residents press Clark County on noise, lighting and annexation during data center hearing

Multiple residents told commissioners they fear noise and lighting impacts from data centers and raised concerns about annexation near the Melody Parks/LexisNexis property; a petition effort was announced to ban data centers in Springfield.

At the July 8 public hearing, several residents described real-world impacts from existing or proposed data centers and urged strict limits. "I live close to the existing data center, and I have to wear ear plugs at night due to the constant thumping," said Stacey Echelberger of the city of Springfield. Robin Richardson-Coy (Green Township) urged aggressive restrictions on exterior lighting to preserve rural darkness.
