Planners flag buildability issues for 7,200 sq ft minimum lots
Jun 3, 2026
Staff and commissioners flagged that minimum-lot math and setbacks could reduce a theoretical 7,200 sq ft lot to about 5,100 sq ft of buildable area, prompting requests for parcel counts and possible variance pathways.

Commissioners and planning staff examined whether a 7,200-square-foot minimum lot standard would create unintended non-buildable parcels once setbacks and width requirements are applied. S5 walked the group through a quick calculation, noting, “Take 85 times 60, and you're at 5,100 square feet,” and observed that the resulting footprint may not meet buildability criteria without variances.
