"Well, all we have to do do is, we have to verify that we're teaching all of the teach with the curriculum that we have in math, reading, English, science," Miss Rayborn said, explaining the verification packets distributed to campuses. The board discussed option details for math materials (Bluebonnet), reading (McGraw Hill), resource checks and the costs cited in the conversation (trustees referenced $20 and $40 seat figures and an estimated total in discussion).
Trustees and staff also addressed teacher training and pacing challenges associated with a more rigorous curriculum. Staff said a Lift grant and regional support would provide additional training and tutoring; the district plans to add instructional minutes to accommodate the curriculum’s pacing. The board moved to approve TEKS and the recommended instructional material alignment as presented.
