Commission appoints subcommittee to draft AARP-style community action plan, schedules workshop
The commission approved forming a subcommittee (up to three people) to draft an AARP-aligned community action plan and agreed to hold a full-commission workshop (proposed Sept. 21) to scope priorities and provide feedback before the subcommittee drafts the plan for AARP review and eventual city-council consideration.

Melinda Hodges walked commissioners through the AARP guidance for an age-friendly community action plan and proposed a multi-stage process: a full-commission workshop to scope the document followed by a smaller writing subcommittee to produce the draft for AARP review. "Tonight, we are proposing that you select and appoint a subcommittee of up to 3 people to lead writing the plan," Hodges said, outlining sections that AARP expects (cover page, executive summary, community profile, domain-specific action plans and appendices).
