The Santee School District Board of Education voted unanimously April 1 to appoint Victor Hourani as the district’s Expanded Learning Program (ELP) coordinator. Superintendent Dr. Kristin Baranski told the board the district has experienced an 88% increase in ELP enrollment since the 2021‑22 school year and needs additional management capacity to support program expansion and summer services.
Baranski presented Hourani, who currently serves as a behavioral specialist in the ELP program and previously worked as a physical education teacher and director of football operations at Saint Augustine High School. Member Dianne El‑Hajj moved approval and the motion passed 5‑0. Hourani expressed appreciation and introduced family and friends in attendance after the vote.
The appointment creates a management-level position to oversee growth, staffing and program enhancements for the ELP. Board documents and the superintendent’s presentation laid out next steps to align staffing and program offerings with increased enrollment.
