Bryan ISD details campus safety upgrades, emergency protocols

Assistant Superintendent Kevin Beesaw, Assistant Director Rich Himmell, Executive Directors Dr. Brian Merrell and Linda Montoya, and Executive Director of Technology Julea Johnson reported that Bryan ISD has installed security vestibules at all campuses, added intruder-resistant material to vestibules and adjacent windows and provided accurate facility maps and classroom door numbering to first responders. The district conducts a District Vulnerability Assessment every four years, monthly intruder detection audits, and uses a Standard Response Protocol. Officials said each classroom has an emergency button linked to notification apps and that students are encouraged to report safety concerns via the B‑Safe app.
Trustees received the update as information; no formal action was taken at the Sept. 23 meeting.
