Board approves gatehouse redesign and master signage program
Summary
The Board authorized Bowman to retain RG Architects as a Bowman subconsultant for redesign of two gatehouses (design cost to be booked as a $62,500 reimbursable) and approved Bowman Consulting Group's landscape architecture proposal to replace monuments and signage across Pelican Sound.
Mr. Long presented RG Architects' fee proposal to redesign two gatehouses as a 'facelift' rather than demolition; the main gate will be removed and redesigned after addressing low clearance issues. Design and permitting were estimated to take 12–18 months; Mr. Long proposed booking the $62,500 design expenditure as an up-front deferred cost reimbursable to the CDD when financing is issued.
On motion by Mr. Blumenthal and seconded by Mr. Mountford, the Board authorized Bowman to retain RG Architects, P.A. as a subconsultant under standard Bowman terms and authorized the Chair to execute documents after review by District Counsel and the District Manager. The Board also approved Bowman Consulting Group's proposal for landscape architectural services for the Pelican Sound Master Signage Program, with neighborhood monument replacements budgeted under Pelican Sound replacement reserves.
Mr. Krebs said new elevation certificates may be required and existing construction plans may be available from the Development Order. The Board designated Mr. Long to take the lead on the gatehouses and Mr. Blumenthal to serve as liaison for communications and monthly updates.
