The Acushnet Board of Selectmen unanimously approved a petition from Eversource Energy and Verizon New England on Aug. 5 to locate underground conduit and a joint on pole in the right-of-way of Gammon's Road (work order 26973732).
Jessica Elder explained that the new joint would serve a property at 127 and that the pole/pedestal appeared to sit opposite the road from the residence. A neighbor and board members asked whether the pole would obstruct driveways or sight lines; staff and the petitioner confirmed it would sit "in the woods" and not directly obstruct driveways. After those clarifications the board closed the hearing and voted to accept the request.
The board asked staff to ensure the exact placement is validated in the field and that the utility coordinates restoration of the public way. The motion passed by roll call with all members present voting yes.
