The Village Board approved a five-year contract to purchase replacement fire and EMS reporting software after Will County announced it will discontinue the county-hosted system at the end of the year.
"At the end of this year, Will County is discontinuing this program," Fire Chief Mike Long told trustees, noting the department has coordinated with neighboring communities to identify an alternative. The board voted to approve the purchase and to fund the software in the Fire Department budget pending possible county grant assistance.
Trustees approved the motion on a roll call during the New Business portion of the meeting. Chief Long said the department has a window through January to get the new system up and running and will pursue grant opportunities if they become available.
