Harleton ISD trustees approve safety upgrades, migrant plan and student recognitions

At its Nov. 12, 2024 regular meeting, the Harleton ISD Board approved the consent agenda, the 2024–2025 Migrant Plan, multiple safety-related capital bids and authorized an interdistrict MOU for evacuation transportation. Students of the Month were also recognized.
Harleton ISD’s Board of Trustees met on Nov. 12, 2024, and approved the consent agenda and a series of motions aimed at student activities and campus safety. The board recorded that the meeting was called to order and completed routine business, then proceeded to votes on the migrant plan, travel and several facility improvement bids.
During the public portion, the board recognized Students of the Month for November: elementary winners Oliver Stone and Henley Russell, junior high winner Kirsten Maurer and high school winner Braedon Glennen Lovvorn. The consent agenda—covering Oct. 8 minutes, donations (including a $1,500 gift from Harleton Archery Booster Club and smaller cash donations), obligations, vouchers and the financial statement—was approved by general consent.
The board approved the 2024–2025 Migrant Plan (motion by Kevin Wright; second by Kevin Evers) and voted to authorize a band field trip to Memphis, TN (April 24–27, 2025). Trustees also approved bids for a new district camera system from Jones Communication LLC, window film bonding from Scott’s Tint and Graphics (noted as per TEA guidelines), and additional safety fencing from Fence Masters. In a separate motion, trustees gave Mr. Jay Ratcliff authority to approve an MOU with neighboring districts (Ore City ISD and New Diana ISD) to assist with transportation during a district evacuation event.
A superintendent report noted enrollment and plans for a Christmas board party. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
