Groesbeck ISD trustees on Nov. 18 approved the district's 2023–24 financial audit after a presentation from Clayton Strothers of Patillo, Brown & Hill LLP, who reported an unmodified (clean) opinion. The auditor summarized district-wide statements including cash and capital assets, and cited a net decrease of approximately $675,000 and a deficit budget projected for 2025.
Trustee Jim Longbotham moved to approve the audit and Trustee Sindra McLean seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The board also approved the budget report and amendments as part of the consent agenda during the same meeting. The minutes note the presence of ‘‘solar money’’ in discussion but do not specify amounts or the intended use; any further budgetary action will be addressed in subsequent board sessions.
