The motion passed.
A Marshall Junior High student, Reid Haynes, spoke during the public-comment portion of the meeting about in-school suspension (ISS) being applied for a first offense under the Telecommunications Policy. The minutes record the comment but do not include a verbatim statement from Haynes; the board moved forward with the policy amendment during the regular agenda item following public comment.
The amendment was presented as part of the district's code updates; the administration indicated the full updated policy text is maintained in the district minute book.
