Marfa ISD board unanimously extends multiple teacher contracts for 2025–26

The Board of Trustees of Marfa ISD voted unanimously March 31 to extend multiple teacher and staff contracts for the 2025–2026 school year. After returning from a closed executive session, board members approved three separate motions — extending probationary contracts, dual probationary contracts, and term contracts — by 7–0 votes.
Board Vice‑President Rene Gonzales moved to extend probationary contracts for nine employees: Arlene Conners, Breeana Hernandez, Jessica Hinojos, Lora Loya, Jtnn Martinez, Benjamin Pineda, Elizabeth Powers, Priscilla Setano and Victoria Villaneal; Jay Foster seconded, and the motion "carried 7-0." In a separate vote the board approved dual probationary contract extensions for Anon Luna, Oswaldo Luna and Kevin Pippen, and approved term contract extensions for a separate list of 14 employees — including Beverly Dutchover, noted as the registered nurse. Each of those motions passed by a recorded 7–0 tally.
The actions followed an executive session the board held "pursuant to Tex. Govt. Code 551.074" to consider personnel matters. Interim Superintendent Alferez certified the public notice for the special meeting before the board entered closed session. The meeting record shows the board adjourned at 6:44 PM.
