County approves multiple utilities contracts for engineering, lift station and sludge pond work

Lyon County commissioners approved a series of contracts July 2 to support utilities operations and maintenance.
Utilities Director Sean Sinclair asked the board to approve an on-call engineering and surveying contract with DOWL, LLC not to exceed $49,000 to support water, sewer and effluent disposal projects. Commissioners approved the contract 5-0.
The board also approved a contract with Lumos & Associates, not to exceed $45,700, to prepare bid documents, assist with contractor solicitation and provide construction management and inspection for the Lift Station 1 Coating Project near the Carson River. Commissioners approved the Lumos contract 5-0.
Finally, the board approved a contract with AtkinsRealis not to exceed $191,000 for bid preparation, contractor selection, construction administration and evaluation of the liner condition for cleaning Sludge Pond 2 at the Silver Springs GID Wastewater Plant. Commissioners approved that contract 5-0.
Each item was presented with scope and justification by Utilities Director Sean Sinclair; the approvals allow the department to proceed with bid and construction planning for maintenance-critical infrastructure.
