Rangely adopts historic-structure code amendment to pursue certification and grants

The Rangely Town Council voted to adopt an amendment to Municipal Code 15.50 on historic-structure preservation (Ordinance 704.2025) and approved an associated resolution to pursue local-government certification.
Clerk (speaker 2) explained the ordinance and resolution were recommendations from History Colorado and that certification would make state and other historic-preservation grants available to property owners and businesses in Rangely. “So both the ordinance and the resolution were recommendations by History Colorado, so we can apply again to get certified as a local government and move that forward,” Clerk (speaker 2) said.
The motion to adopt the ordinance was made, seconded and carried with council vocal approval. Councilors did not raise additional substantive amendments during the meeting; staff indicated the action will enable future grant applications for preservation projects.
