One council member said, "I am a little concerned about a 5 year extension," citing the risk of architectural standards and planning rules changing over a long term. Staff and the city attorney explained that the stronger approach is to include an architectural palette in the DA so it remains enforceable and recorded with the property; council voted to continue the item until July 28 with instructions that the applicant provide elevations and open-space amenity plans for staff review and inclusion in the DA.
