County staff recommended and the commission approved a change order of $23,121.66 for exterior renovations at the Emily Tabor Library to cover increased material and labor costs after a prolonged state review. Staff said the state had required architectural plans midproject, which delayed work and increased costs.
County Manager Sarah told the board staff had negotiated a lower-priced option with the contractor and recommended awarding the change order to Tremco, which would sub the work to Galaxy Builders Inc., using ARPA funds allocated as the local match. "Staff does recommend award of the change order in the amount of $23,121.66," Sarah said. The board voted unanimously to approve the change order.
Staff said the replacement of windows and doors is necessary because several units were on their "last leg" and told commissioners the work should be completed by year-end. The board and staff also discussed follow-on interior repairs once the exterior work and roof issues are addressed.
