The Klamath County School District Board of Directors adopted several policy updates during its Oct. 16 meeting, approving second readings for policies on the budget committee, program exemptions, artificial intelligence, personal electronic devices and social media, and physical examinations of students.
Steve Lowell moved to adopt the second-reading policy updates and John Rademacher seconded the motion; the motion passed 5–0. The policies listed on the record included DBEA (Budget Committee), IGBHD (Program Exemptions), IKJ (Artificial Intelligence), JFCEB (Personal Electronic Devices and Social Media), and JHCA (Physical Examinations of Students). At the start of the policy item the board also considered a first reading of policy BHD (Board Member Stipends and Reimbursements); all board members declared potential conflicts under ORS 224.020 before that discussion.
Board members did not amend the policies on the floor and adoption was recorded as unanimous. The record does not include implementation dates for the updated policies; the policies were described as attached to the board packet.
