Supervisors authorize joint purchase, application for $80,000 towable safety device

The board approved Resolution 20 26 57 to pursue a joint purchase and grant application for a towable attenuation trailer — a towable safety device costing about $80,000 — intended to protect road crews in work zones.

Brandon described a towable attenuation trailer the county would jointly acquire to improve worker safety in work zones, saying the device would be positioned near work operations to reduce the impact of rear-end collisions. "So that if people don't pay attention and rear end the work zone, this will help them grow the impact so that the workers stay safe," Brandon said while explaining the safety benefit.
