Board approves Lifesaver wristband tracking purchase for Aging Services using KBIC 2% funds

Marquette County approved purchasing a Lifesaver radio-tracking wristband system recommended by Aging Services; staff said the purchase will be covered by reserves and gaming 2% funds from the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.

County staff presented a proposal from Aging Services for a Lifesaver tracking system that uses wristbands and radio equipment to help locate people with dementia or special needs who become lost. Staff said the newer system would be more robust than the county's older Life Tracker setup, could be networked with other sheriff offices, and was recommended as a cost-effective upgrade; the board moved to follow staff recommendation and approved the purchase.
