Council asks for clearer public works and utility reporting after monthly update

Council members asked for more specificity in the public works report presented as part of the consent agenda, requesting clearer descriptions of ditch work locations, the nature of 'road work' (asphalt pothole patching vs. full resurfacing) and where millings were placed on Hilltop, East Heath and South Morro. The council also asked whether a recent fixed water leak at Richard and South Business was a service-line or mainline repair; staff said if no customers lost water it was likely a service-line issue because the city repairs outward from the meter.

During the discussion the mayoral presiding official praised Crystal, the utility clerk, for daily monitoring of Zinner reports and for catching leaks and meter issues early: "Crystal, our utility clerk, is absolutely amazing with her estimators." Council asked staff to provide more detailed work-order histories and to indicate if recurring meter issues exist for specific addresses. The consent agenda motion to accept the reports passed by voice vote.
