Robertson County commissioners approved a five-year solid-waste contract and a set of fee increases after the Solid Waste Committee reported a roughly 38% increase in contract costs.
"So we had our contract run out. We had to renew it and the cost of it went up about 38%." Randy Wilson, chair of the Solid Waste Committee, told the commission. The resolution raised the in-county disposal fee from $60 per ton to $85 per ton, out-of-county fees from $75 per ton to $100 per ton, brush fees from $40 to $50 per ton and power fees from $1.35 to $1.50 per ton.
Commissioners discussed concerns about attracting out-of-county waste and enforcement of county tags at convenience centers; the Chair noted staff would check vehicle tags to protect county revenue. The Chair announced the vote as recorded in the meeting as 13–4–0 in favor of the resolution.
