Resident urges sidewalks and Safe Routes to School application after TxDOT talks
A resident told council children are walking on the shoulder to school and delivered a Safe Routes to School grant application; City Manager Matt McMahan said the city had applied previously, will reapply in spring, and that TxDOT discussed sidewalks on Highway 36.

Resident Terri Kansy told council she was concerned about children walking to school on the shoulder of the road and lacking sidewalks; she provided the City Secretary with a Safe Routes to School grant application. Kansy said she had researched grant opportunities and asked the city to pursue sidewalk funding.
